The winners of the league gain entry to the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF)-run inter-regional playoffs.

Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) is set to begin their league playoff matches on the first weekend of October despite the break occasioned by the general elections.

The league, like many other in the country has been forced to go on a two-week break to allow for the election conducted on Tuesday 9 August across the country but fixtures secretary Caleb Osewe remains confident that the projected timelines will not be affected.

NBA's league threw off in April with 30 teams taking part in the men's league that is played in two conferences Eastern and Western while the women's league has 11 teams.

Ahead of the break, Kivuli led the standings in the Eastern conference having played 21 matches winning 16 for 37 points, one better than second placed Moischers who are second but have played three matches less at 18.

African Dream are third in the conference after 19 matches with 35 points from 16 wins and three losses.

In the Western conference, Clique Mambas are calling the shots at the top albeit with a slim advantage. The Rose Mshilla-coached side has gunnered 36 points from 19 matches, having lost only twice, the least number of losses for any side in the league.

All-stars are second on 35 points after 20 matches, winning 15 while Zetech University lies third at 32 points from 14 wins in 18 matches.

In the women's league, Evelyne Kedogo-led Dream Girls have a two-point lead at the helm at 28 from 13 wins in 15 matches played so far.

The Kenya International Kedogo has Stanbic Bank breathing down their necks, with an unbeaten streak of 13 matches for 26 points. Gladiators are third at 25 points, having won nine of their 16 matches.

The top eight women's teams head to the best-of-three quarters. The top eight teams in each of the two men's conferences head to a home and away round of 16 before the winners proceeding to the best-of- three quarters.

The semis and final are played in a best-of-five format. The winners of the league gain entry to the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF)-run inter-regional playoffs from where those who emerge top are promoted to the KBF lower division leagues.
